An information-only look at what the current booking and website tools cost, and what switching to lower-cost alternatives would save — while keeping the same $10-deposit booking model and the shop's place on Google.
Nearly all of the savings come from the booking platform — not the website. Switching from Squire to Square is the move that matters. Moving the website off GoDaddy is entirely optional, adds only a small amount on top, and is not required to capture the savings. The website can stay exactly as it is.
The website stays untouched. Booking moves to Square Appointments, which still collects the $10 deposit online. This is where the savings live, and it's reversible — the "Book" button can point back to Squire at any time.
Bonus — one booking page for both shops: Square shows customers a single page where they pick the location first, then the barber. One link covers both locations. (Depending on the current Squire plan, customers may instead have to track down each location's separate listing to book — Square removes that friction.)
Separately and later, the website could move off GoDaddy to a free host, with merch on Square Online. That trims the monthly website fee and speeds the site up — but it's optional, not necessary, and adds only a little to the total. The booking switch above delivers the bulk of the savings on its own.
Square has three tiers. The features the shop relies on today line up with Plus — Free is too limited, Premium is more than needed. That's why the calculator below treats the Square cost as a fixed, known number.
| Feature the shop needs | Free | Plus | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10 deposit at online booking | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Keep the deposit on no-shows (cancellation policy) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Multiple barbers, each with own calendar | Limited | Yes | Yes |
| Both locations in one booking flow | No | Yes | Yes |
| Waitlist + text/email confirmations | No | Yes | Yes |
| Room/chair resource booking, commission tracking | No | No | Yes |
Price: Plus is $49/month per location → $98/month for both shops. Premium is $149/location (only worth it for shared-chair resource booking or barber commission tracking).
One thing to know: Squire's top plan includes a branded app and loyalty program. Square Plus does not — replacing those would need Square Premium or a separate Square Loyalty add-on (~$45/month per location). For the core $10-deposit booking model, Plus is sufficient.
Type in the real numbers where known — even rough figures work — and the estimate updates instantly. The Square cost is already filled in and locked, since it's a published, fixed price.
Estimate only. The booking switch is the main saving; the website line is a small optional extra. Card-processing fees (~2.6–2.9%) are similar on both platforms and treated as a wash. Figures update as numbers are typed in.
A few facts turn this estimate into a firm number:
Heads up — this section is about the optional website move, not the booking switch. These protections only matter if the website is also moved off GoDaddy (the gold "optional" line in the calculator above). That move adds only minimal savings — nearly all the savings come from switching the booking platform — so it's a "nice to have," not a money decision.
A new website is built and tested privately while the current one stays live; the switch only happens once it's ready, and it can be reversed within minutes. Booking is just a link — it can point back to Squire instantly.
The web address (dapperdonbarberlounge.com) and the Google Business listings stay the same, so the shop keeps its place in local search and the map. A faster site can actually help.
If email runs through GoDaddy, it is left exactly where it is and only the website is re-pointed — so the inbox is never interrupted.
Squire and GoDaddy stay active alongside the replacements until they're proven and the customer list is safely exported. Only then is anything canceled.
